Surfer of the Century by Ellie Crowe



This is the true story of Hawaiian Duke Kahanamoku, six-time Olympic swimming champion and legendary surfer who popularized surfing around the world. Throughout his life, Duke was beloved for his modesty, sportsmanship and amazing skill in the water.

    First of all I just want to say the illustations are groovy. Duke (surfer of the century) surfed until he was like seventy-one.

    ** Surfer of the century was a book about a guy named Duke. He became a champion at surfing. He went to the olimpics and everything. He was a good guy.

  9. When the waitors saw Duke walk in to the reasturant and saw his dark skin, that reminded me when people with dark skin couldn't go to certain places. It made me feel bad until his friend saw him and invited him to his table and got to stay.

  21. I liked this book because it was about a young man in Hawaii who liked to surf and was a very fast swimmer. He had a very large family. I liked the illustrations. I rate this book "good".
